Do I need previous building experience to take this workshop?
While our workshops are designed for anyone getting started on their tiny house journey, for this build course we require that you have previously taken our Foundation Design & Construction workshop first with either Ben Garratt or Kenton Zerbin. If you haven’t taken the Foundation course, one will be held right before the Build Course, May 4-5 in Saanich, B.C.
Do you have couples rates? Can my spouse/partner/child attend with me?
This course is highly in demand and we want to make it available to as many people as possible, while keeping the instructor-to-student ratio high. As such we ask that guests and partners not accompany the paying participant so that you can get maximum value for your time.
What’s the refund policy?
Your $399 deposit is NON-refundable and will serve to hold your place. If something comes up and you cannot make it, it is your responsibility to find another student to take your spot. The remainder of the course fees ($500) are due at the start of the course (May 6th). Cash, E-transfer or Paypal are all acceptable.
Is alcohol/smoking allowed on the property?
Alcohol and power tools are not a good mix so we recommend you have a drink after the course is finished for the day. There are designated smoking areas. No drugs allowed onsite.
What is included in with the registration fee?
We will assist with meals and accommodation. Please bring: Water bottle, Hat, sturdy shoes, rain gear, warm clothes. In terms of tools, students should think about bringing: Tape measure, pencils, sharpie, box cutter/knife, tool belt. If students have other tools they are encouraged to bring them.
Is accommodation available?
Those who are ready for the full experience are encouraged to camp at the natural, forested site, with views of the ocean on spectacular Gabriola Island. For those wanting some luxury, accommodations can be found in the many B&Bs on the island. But you won’t want to miss the unforgettable evenings with the group, to be spent relaxing, playing games and swapping stories by the fire.
